How to contribute

Last updated 25 June 2026 · OpenGlyph Editorial

OpenGlyph is a community engine: the library grows because people like you add to it. This page explains exactly how to submit a kaomoji, ASCII artwork, symbol set or open-font idea to OpenGlyph.org — and what happens after you do.

What you can submit

We welcome contributions across all of our open libraries:

  • Kaomoji you’ve created or carefully collected, grouped by emotion or animal.
  • ASCII art — original pieces that render cleanly in a monospaced font.
  • Symbol & glyph sets — themed collections (hearts, arrows, aesthetic marks) with Unicode notes.
  • Open-font ideas — typefaces or glyph designs under an open license such as the SIL OFL.
  • Corrections — spotted a wrong code point or a tofu box? Tell us; reporters are credited.

The review process

Every submission is reviewed before it goes live — no auto-publishing. The flow is simple and transparent:

  1. Submit your entry with a category and, where relevant, a source.
  2. Review — a maintainer checks originality, licensing and that it renders correctly with no tofu, following how we curate & verify.
  3. Publish & credit — accepted entries go live under our open license, credited to your handle.

What makes a great submission

The strongest contributions are original, render correctly across platforms, and fill a real gap rather than duplicating what’s already in the library. Include a short note on where a glyph comes from and any platforms where it falls back to plain text. Please review the community guidelines first.

Licensing & credit

By submitting, you keep credit for your work and grant OpenGlyph an open license to display and share it — see content licensing for the exact terms. We never claim a contribution is “100% safe” on any platform, and we never strip your credit.
